Best Worldbuilding in Anime
The Rules
The Rules are As Follows:
We are going by the Setting/Verse itself, so if there are multiple series that share the same world, we're counting them as one entry, (Ergo, Fate, Tsukihime, Kara No Kyouka would be one entry, and Steins;Gate, Chaos;Head, and Robotics;Notes would be another) If you see a duplicate, feel free to inform me and I will remove/condense the entries.
You may include Anime, Manga, Light Novels, Visual Novels, or any work that originated as an Asian Property, I'll go ahead and include Korean Manhwa or Chinese Donghua as well as Japanese Novels as oppose to just Light Novels. However one part of a work set in that world must have had an anime adaptation. Anime Originals are fair game, if it needed to be said.
Works inspired by Western Properties are okay, IF the work is inspired by a Classic work but takes its own interpretation, rather than being an anime extension of an existing brand, or if the work is so radically different from its western inspiration as to be its own thing. (For instance how Blade Runner is a very distinct take of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.) Basically Inspiration is okay, adaptation is not.
While the entry has to have an anime adaptation, if the anime doesn't do the source justice, no need to vote based on the quality of the anime. You can vote with the Manga or Light Novel in mind. This is more about the world/setting after all.
While we are doing shared universes that can have multiple works, the works must be officially canonically shared universes, not simply have a similar studio or director with the same style. (Ergo, you can't group Ghibli together) If you see a series of works grouped together by fan theories, message me, if you insist that a group of works shares the same verse, and me or others challenge you on it, the burden of proof is on you.
Have Fun!
